Baràon State in Allahabad division --++++ Pandit Thakur Ragho Narain Singh of Baron state shared a geographical tract along with Karchana , Suraon and Handiya that was larger in extent than what was under the control of Raja Prithviraj Singh of Pratapgarh. Unfortunately very few information regarding formation of this state of Apratigrahi Babhans is known. It's difficult to believe that the contribution to this dynasty in defending Sanatandharma and liberating Prayag has been ironically ignored. It appears that during Mughal rule religious taxes were collected from Prayag. No Hindu Cheif however fought bravely to liberate Prayag. In case of Ayodhya king of Amethi and Taluqdars of Awadh had of course shown some degree of resistance. In later course of Mughal history when Awadh under Safdarjung became powerful some of the Hindus rose in to power . A great military commander Tikait Rai made at Bithur the Mahakal temple that is considered as Brahmavarta Pradesh , the home land of Pratikrit Kanyakubjas that according to a text Dashvidh Brahmin has five major branches . It is said that Tikait Rai wanted a Ram temple also to be created at Ayodhya and Prayag to be exempted from pilgrimage tax.Except the erection of Mahakal temple at Bithur Tikait Rai couldn't achieve much. Unfortunately Tikait Rai is also a forgotten name.Almost during the same period the area near Allahabad faced upheaval. Sultans of Jaunpur and Awadh were hostile towards rising popularity of belligerent Jamindars of Baràon ,Karchana , Suraon,Manda etc. Among them the Jamindar of Baron proved himself the most chivalrous. He captured Sangam region with help of local Jamindars. It was during the same period Banaras was captured by Balvant Singh and Gaya was overpowered by Sundar Singh. The Baràon State faced threat of Bangas pathan too. The last known ruler of this dynasty was Raja Ragho Narain Singh. The vestiges of this state are prey to negligence. The dynasty faced apathy of British Raj. Hence it couldn't restore its glory. Nevertheless its contribution in liberation of Prayag like Gaya and Kashi deserves appreciation from them who are proud scholars of history.
